About me

I’ve been creating art since I was young, first learning ballet and tap dancing and then as a fine artist.

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

The story of

Tracey Carmen

From the age of 6, I took ballet lessons, which soon became the passion and focus of my life. Attending 4 ballet classes and a modern dance class each week, my dream was to become a ballerina.

I also joined a tap dancing school and performed in various clubs in the local area.

Around the age of 13 I realised I wasn’t going to make it as a ballerina. Apparently my legs were on the short side!

I had been drawing from an early age, first copying Disney characters from my comics and then ballet dancers.

Over the years my love for ballet has continued and I’ve channelled it onto paper and canvas. I used to only do pencil drawings but then I wondered – what would it look like with a little wash of watercolour? And so I progressed into watercolour paintings.

I’ve dabbled in acrylic canvas painting from time to time and more recently got inspired to paint some seascapes – more of that to come!

Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art.
